Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the approaches to understanding the term «evidence», highlighted in juridical literature. The concepts of interpretation of the essence of evidence, developed in criminal procedural science are analyzed. The essence of each of them is disclosed and critical remarks are made regarding particular concepts. The author’s own position regarding the interpretation of the term «evidence» in the Ukrainian criminal procedure is proposed.
