Mircea Eliade - Initiatory journey into the unknown

Summary/Abstract: Our study contains some informations about our important Romanian historian of religion, fiction writer and philosopher, Mircea Eliade. We tried to resume his large activity in some pages and to write about specific moments from his life, especially about the trips he had done in India. Here, in this country, Mircea Eliade had found another culture full of superstitions, traditions and popular beliefs, bright and powerful colours, new spices, tea, silk, but the most important, love and a new religion. Romanian philosopher had fallen in love with an Indian girl, named Maitreyi, and they had without any doubts an incredible love story based on trust, honestity, innocence and true feelings. They had been forced to broke up because of the Indian society’s conservative rules and laws. After this hard and unforgettable experience in love, Mircea Eliade decided to change his life and to adopt new concepts to help him healing and Yoga was the first step he had done in this purpose. From this moment, he will start a new journey, a spiritual itinerary, hoping to find inner peace, happiness and to discover his higher self.
