Summary/Abstract: This article shows interregional disparities of socio-economic development in Russia during the periods of economic grows and economic crisis; explains their reasons and consequences. The analysis of key problems of regional development was given, especially – the problems of regional asymmetries of major socioeconomic indicators as well as particularities of the concentration of economic activity in the leading regions and the relations of donor and recipient regions. The article examines the impact of regional disparities on the socio-political situation and efficiency of regional policy.
