Summary/Abstract: This article describes “Sovetskaya Igrushka” (Soviet Toy) magazine (1935–1939) as one of the most important and so far poorly studied sources on the history of Soviet childhood. It is shown that through different materials devoted to children’s toys, the magazine popularized power strategies and regulatory practices relating to the construction and material filling of the space of children’s everyday life in the new Soviet conditions, developing the ways of endowing it with particular symbolic meanings.
