Summary/Abstract: Along with Dan Barbilian, prof. Gheorghe Vrânceanu (1900–1979) is appreciated as the most important contemporary Romanian geometer. He created on 26‑year‑old the theory of neolonome spaces, also called „Vrânceanu spaces” (1926) and had numerous fundamental contributions in various chapters of contemporary differential geometry in spaces with different types of connection, in the field of Lie groups, differential manifolds, including numerous contributions concerning relativity. He has developed the Reimann theory of spaces, giving a simple method of immersion, which bears his name.
