Summary/Abstract: This paper presents an attempt to reveal the role of the Macedonian kings in the formation of tyrannical regime in Argos in the Hellenistic Period. Based on the analysis of sources and literature, it was established that all tyrants in Argos were in friendly relationships with the Macedonian kings. Moreover, there is a fact that the Macedonian army of Demetrius supported Aristomahos during the seizure of power in the polis. The tyrant’s refusal of power after the death of the Macedonian king can be also considered an important evidence of the desire of the Argive tyrants to enlist the Macedonians’ support in establishing a tyrannical regime in the polis.
