Summary/Abstract: Seven dimensions of trait anxiety are assessed using the EMAS (The Endler Multidimensional Anxiety Scales) and the EMAS-SAS (The EMAS Social Anxiety Scales): social evaluation, physical danger, ambiguity, daily routines, separation, and self-disclosure to family members and to close friends. The same 15 items are used in every trait anxiety subscale. The present study aims to identify the psychometric characteristics of items in the trait anxiety subscales. The sample consisted of 474 subjects, age between 14-84 years. The results showed that all 15 items of EMAS-T and SAS-T subscales have good validity, namely the score values for each subscale reflect the trait anxiety level corresponding to described situation. The items can differentiate between every of the seven situations, meaning that the majority of the participants give different scores to the same item when belonging to different subscale.
