Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the linguistic creation of child characters in the novel Konopielka written by Edward Redliński in 1973. The novel is classified as an example of the peasant trend. The article concentrates on the creation of child characters, i.e. their external appearance, feelings, behaviours, family relations. The article is an attempt to identify the linguistic mechanisms used by Redliński in his description of children. In Konopielka the following elements have been analysed and depicted: lexis, expressions and stylistic means, inter alia metaphors, epithets, similes, enumerations and their role in the creation of child characters in Konopielka.
