Summary/Abstract: The extract presents three cases on environmental offenses, from the judicial practice of the United States of America, as described in the press releases of the Department of Justice regarding the inappropriate handling by the defendants of the waste oil contaminated with PCB that led to the spread of contagion and at cleaning costs of millions of dollars, air pollution by releasing hundreds of tons of poisonous gas containing benzene into the atmosphere, discharging waste into the sewer through a bypass in the filtration system. It is established that, in addition to the prison sentences or the criminal pecuniary penalties applied to the defendants, as legal entities, the collection of paymnets is needed, in order to restore the polluted environment or for research in the field of environmental protection.
