Summary/Abstract: This paper examines normative and practical components of constitutional patriotism as a model of citizenship (civil political identification), with a particular focus on socio-political context of Montenegro. The first part marks the theoretical importance of differentiation between normative and empirical in both legal and political theory and the importance of this duality for the concept of constitutional patriotism. It is followed by theoretical elaboration of the concept, its contextualization within broader field of political theory, with cross-section of the historical development of the notion of constitutional patriotism and critical disputes of this concept. In the part that considers this concept within given historical, political and social context, contemporary Montenegro and its constitutional and political identity are particularly examined. In the same section, the practical reasons for adoption of constitutional patriotism as a constitutional and political form of societal integration for multicultural, plurinational and ideologically polarized Montenegrin society.
