Summary/Abstract: The analysis of the evolution of life insurance demand is performed through relevant macroeconomic indicators (inflation, saving, unemployment, financial debt), demographics (urbanization, population, education, population structure by sex- women, age dependency rate (young people)). The penetration degree of life insurance is the indicator chosen to illustrate the development of the life insurance sector and implicitly the demand on this market. The study is based on statistical data from European Union Member States, and the period is 1996-2016. For estimation, it is used a multifactorial panel model based on least squares method. The study shows that urbanization, population growth, women percentage in total population and age dependence rate stimulate the demand increase for life insurance. At the opposite pole is inflation which reduces consumption.
