Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the importance of the “Chinese factor” in today’s world from the perspective of such current phenomena as the prevailing peculiar political and economic uncertainty of the world economy, developing processes of global cooperation, and simultaneous unprecedented competition at this level. The author discusses and evaluates the Belt and Road Initiative, emphasizing its importance for globalization processes, and indicating a set of “internal” constraints and challenges of a systemic nature. Attention is drawn to the new challenge of the remarkable technical progress of recent years, introducing the world into the era of Artificial Intelligence, which is yet another reason to continue the classic discussions on the economic model of China. The author adds his comments on the latest disturbances in the economic lives of regions and the world caused by the coronavirus epidemic.
