Summary/Abstract: The elections for the European Parliament held between 23rd to 26th of May 2019, give us the opportunity to identify, in this study, the causes of the lack of interest shown by the European citizens regarding the European elections, that are often considered as simple national choices for the European legislative without visible results. For this, the first section of this study analyzes all the technical issues related to the organization of the European elections. The second section brings to the fore the need of informing and consulting the citizens. The last section comes once again to note that European voters continue to remain deeply attached to the meaning of nation as a community of citizens which elect and delegates to make laws and conduct the government, failing to give meaning to the vote they gave to the candidates who will then be lost among other 700 people. On the other hand, we will discover, under the influence of the specialized literature, a series of proposals to reform the European elections, such as: the measure introduced by the Lisbon Treaty the election of the President of the European Commission taking into account the results of the elections of the European Parliament or Duff Andrew's initiative to amend the rules governing the European elections, where European voters should give two votes: one for the national or regional list and the second one for the transnational European list. The conclusion of such analysis is simple and not at all surprising: the citizens should perceive the vote not only as a civic duty, but as the change generating tool at its fingertips, that once exerted can give them some personal and collective benefits that can influence their day to day existence.
