Summary/Abstract: Access to justice is analyzed by Romanian jurists either in connection with the international and European texts determining its reception in domestic law and with the valences it has acquired due to the ECHR case law, or as a principle of civil procedural law, together with all its implications for the legislation governing this particular branch of law. Taking as starting point some landmarks offered by our legal literature and by the Romanian legislation in force, our aim is to identify hypotheses of an access to justice „avant la lettre” in some documents belonging to the history of Romanian law.
