Summary/Abstract: Many studies have shown that the activity of individualsdepends, among others, on constructs such as self-efficacy,self-esteem, motivation, learned helplessness or relationswith the environment. They are in turn closely related tothe locus of control. As it takes shape under the influenceof experiences, past events are important in this process, for students – school events in particular must be takeninto account. Due to the fact that tools are missing thatcould be used by paedagogues to study and diagnose thelocus of control of school events in pupils, an attempt hasbeen made to construct it. Existing tools are constructedin other cultures or socio-economic conditions, so this researchis an attempt to construct a tool to determine thedirection of explaining school events, separately for successesand failures. The sample consisted of 449 secondgraders from schools above the lower secondary level. Thereliability of the tool was verified by the internal compliancecoefficient and the validity – by studying the relationshipwith the chosen variables. The tool can be consideredvalidated. In terms of the failures scale, the tool achievedsatisfactory reliability, while the in terms of the scale ofsuccess – it needs more development.
