Summary/Abstract: This text intends to familiarize the reader with the essence and significance of conventionally perpetuated rules for perceiving and understanding school culture, and the mechanisms that govern its permanence – a “school grammar.” This term is a metaphor for the permanence and habituality of the phenomena and processes comprising a school culture. Similarly to how grammar governing a language is not always clear and its rules consciously followed, a “school grammar” is accepted habitually, and what occurs in schools and education is perceived stereotypically.
