Summary/Abstract: The “Iluzjon” Film Group was founded in 1955, and from 1963 Czesław Petelski was its artistic director. In the 1970s, at least several films were made in “Iluzjon”, which, while retaining their artistic values, brought high attendance results. The article is a short monograph of the film group under Petelski’s management. Both the organizational and financial sphere of “Iluzjon” and the political issues that determined its first liquidation in 1981 and the low artistic level of films made after the reactivation are analysed. The author cites numerous reviews, record transcripts and archival materials of the Supreme Cinematography Board and the Culture Department of the Central Committee of the PZPR.
