Summary/Abstract: The article presents an analysis of the Polish Television programme during the martial law period, with particular emphasis on foreign films and series. The starting point is the statement that in this period there was a drastic reversal of the proportion between productions imported from Western and socialist countries. Recalling the statements of the then representatives of the authorities and journalists, the author reconstructs narratives on how to create a TV schedule. The quantitative analysis of films and series in the television programme deepens the reflection on the practices of television decision-makers, who, taking into account the need for propaganda, at the same time had to ensure the attractiveness of the offer. It was not an easy task in a situation of limited financial resources and political pressure. To cope with it, television authorities were able to reach even for controversial films, previously not allowed to broadcast, e.g. "Easy Rider" (1969) by Dennis Hopper, which analysis is to be found in the last paragraph of the article.
