Summary/Abstract: Traditional family rituals, such as wedding and wedding reception, birth and baptism, as well as funeral, have always been important events not only for a family, but also for the whole local society. It is through those events that all inhabitants, who were engaged in various ways to help an initiated person with the rite of passage, integrated. Celebrations of this type contributed to strengthening of different bonds in a family and rural society. It was important to show respect, obey the rules of hierarchy. It was also essential to maintain the tradition of introducing a new family member or having some roles in rituals. Rituals were also an opportunity to help other people in different ways, which made some interrelations necessary to be reciprocated. During rituals some activities protecting particular family members and the whole rural society were taken. These activities were indispensable, as the initiated person was a threat for them during the phases of passing from one status or age to another one. All the activities described influenced the integration of the group and its functioning. In recent years some stages of the rituals, as well as factors maintaining relations have changed. However, these events are still one of rare occasions to meet relatives, friends and neighbours.
