Summary/Abstract: In the year 2005 in Vilnius The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe adoptedthe Strategy for Education for Sustainable Development. The Strategy obliges the signatorycountries to integrate the education for sustainable development (ESD) into all forms of theireducation system and covers all levels and faculties. After nearly 10 years from its adoptionand at the end of the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development, it isreasonable to verify the engagement of Poland in fulfilling its commitments. The aim of thisstudy is to identify the place of education for sustainable development in national regulationsand to make an attempt to characterize the state of education for sustainable development inhigher education, with particular emphasis put on economics and pedagogy.
