Summary/Abstract: The educational system should create capable, motivated and optimistic young people with high emotional intelligence. In its essence, education policy must understand that the best way to allow people to build on their potential is to value them for who they are rather than for their performances according to fixed targets. All schools should adopt a strategy which promotes the emotional, social and psychological welfare of the young people. Curricula should be widened to include more opportunities linked to sport, arts, creativity and other similar activities. At an early stage in their lives, young people should be given information about the types of satisfaction derived from different kinds of life choices, maybe by studying the concept of „welfare” in details. An educational system that promotes prosperity will lead to increased productivity, a more entrepreneurial society and more active citizens. The computerization of Romanian schools is a real necessity, determined by the natural penetration/entry/usage of information technology in all areas of economic life and also by the necessity of aligning education with the economic and social requirements.
