Summary/Abstract: The concept of creative economy brings new insights to the regional and urban development by focusing on the role of creative industries, creative cities or creative class. Our paper contributes to the discussion on the spatial concentration of firms in creative industries by using point pattern analysis. We analyze spatial distribution of 12 936 points, which represent geocoded firm level micro data from the Business Register of the Slovak Republic (Infostat). Using distance based spatial statistics such as nearest neighbour analysis, Ripley K analysis, and risk adjusted nearest neighbour hierarchical clustering we analyze the level of spatial concentration of firms and identify spatial clusters of firms in creative industries in Slovakia. Our analysis have confirmed that creative industries tend to concentrate in space mainly in large cities such as Bratislava and Košice. Only art and antiques and manufacture of clothes display less concentrated pattern in space.
