Summary/Abstract: Family Values in Post-Metaphysical Context. The contemporary crisis of family is inevitably bound with the crisis of values affected by the postmodern subjectivism and relativism. Equivocally understood, the death of metaphysics sends to the death of moral, dogmatic and traditional values of the Church, that had been the theoretical foundations of the Christian family for many centuries. In consequence, the family cannot be defended anymore by the simple appeal to those values, suspected today of hypocrisy and will to power. Based on phenomenology and Orthodox theology, this text tries a postmetaphysical argument for the Christian family that refers to „the mystery of love”: the communion with the living God. Only as a spiritual way does the Christian family reveal its true aim and vocation, the family being neither a rigid moralism, nor coercion and lack of liberty, but the non-monastic way of deification and the joy of communion with God and with the other, the beloved.
