Summary/Abstract: Security culture and political culture play an important role in understanding the concept of security and what security means for the citizens. Whether we are talking about the intelligence services or the commercial activities undertaken by the hipermarkets and banks, personal data, human rights and security are important issues. In this paper we use the data collected for the Barometer of Security Culture in Romania and we classify Romanian respondents in three attitudinal profiles regarding their position, perception and attitude of pro-security and/or pro-rights through items that address exceptional situations, but also current ones from the national politics. This empirical classification captures statistical variability and helps build a more nuanced profile for Romania, in order to adapt national awareness policies to security, including better programs for Romanians in order to understand and develop a culture of security.
