Summary/Abstract: What Black George had started with the First Serbian Uprising, Miloš Obrenović continued in the Second Serbian Uprising. During Miloš′s first rule, Serbia became a hereditary principality with borders recognized by Porta, and which exceeded the borders of Belgrade pashadom. In that period Serbia also established a constitution, which restricted the rule of the duke and guaranteed legal safety for everyone. Miloš couldn′t face up to the fact that his absolute authority could be restricted in any way, so that, after the conflict with advocates of constitutionalism, he abdicated and bequeathed his rule to his son Mihailo.
