Summary/Abstract: Like any customary law, the Lek Dukagjini/Leke Dukagjini/Lekë Dukagjini canon in its normative composition also incorporates the legacy component, where it dedicates an important component to the canon of that time and displaced it from the criminal element. The Canon of Lek Dukagjini is a compilation of Albanian legal and social norms in a book, over the course of several centuries, before and after the life of Lek Dukagjini. The laws of the Kanon have long served as social norms and as a self-governing system that prevailed in the highlands of northern Albania at a time when the region was ruled by the Ottoman Empire. The canon is of fundamental importance in the history of the Albanian people since it is an ancient document. It is to be noted that the canon of the legacy component has a good compatibility – similar to the Law of 12 tables.
