Summary/Abstract: The Bosnian Crisis of 1908-1909 constituted an event which greatly influenced the development of the political situation in Europe in the beginning of ХХ century. In September 1908 Austria proclaimed the annexation of the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina occupied by it under the verdict of the 1878 Berlin Congress which marked the end of the Russian-Turkish War of 1877-1878. The Vienna government in this case had two objectives: firstly, to compromise the Slavic movement in general, and secondly, to push each other Serbia and Montenegro, Be careful if you do not engage fully in the final orbit of its policy, then, at least, to weaken Russian influence there. Only five years after the said event in Sarajevo a shot rang out which turned out to be fatal not only for the Austrian-Hungarian, but also for Ottoman, German and Russian empires. The lessons of the Bosnian crisis have not lost their topicality today, as well.
