Summary/Abstract: In 1913, the Romanian press proved a special interest in the involvement of Romania in the conduct of the Second Balkan War. The military campaign in the south of the Danube and the peace in Bucharest, which succeeded, were carefully presented and commented by the various publications of the Old Kingdom. Although it was a leftist newspaper, “Adevărul” was, under those circumstances, a channel for the transmission of national political ideas and aspirations, shared by the majority of the intellectual and political elite and the majority of the population. On the other hand, they can observe − in the columns of this newspaper − how the fears and the preconceived notions of a gloomy future shadow the satisfaction generated by the success of the Romanian diplomacy in 1913. The presentation of the informations, ideas, remarks, reflections expressed by one of the most popular newspapers of the epoch is an attempt to improve the knowledge of the events surrounding the Balkan crisis in which Romania was actively involved and to point out the mentalities of the Romanian society of the time.
