Summary/Abstract: The essential of presented paper is to analyze the impact of the project manager´s age on the preference of key competences in the project practice regarding the petrochemical industry in EU countries. The primary method of data acquisition was electronic questioning. We used the International Competence Baseline version 4 as the theoretical basis for the analysis. The research sample of the respondents was intentional, 78 respondents working as project managers in the petrochemical industry in EU countries were addressed. We also used linear and regression analysis to analyse the correlation of the key competence elements preference and the project manager's age. We concluded that the preference of the key competence elements of project managers in the petrochemical industry of EU countries did not change with age.
