Summary/Abstract: The archives of the Thessaloniki Bulgarian high schools – male and female – considered to have been destroyed have been partially preserved in a common archive at the National Library of Greece. Documents of the Female High School predominate. Among the archival units from the period 1892–1913 there are matricular and material books, accounting and inventory records, protocols of the Teachers' Council of the Female High School and of the Economic Commission. The preserved correspondence contains many letters from Bulgarian ecclesiastical boards, schools and guilds, baptismal certificates, school-leaving certificates. The archive reveals an impressive scale and level of educational work, directed by the Exarchate and implemented by enlightened Bulgarians in the “Macedonian” vilayets of the Ottoman Empire.
