BIOLOGICAL INDICATORS OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY IN THE AREA OF BANOVICI

Summary/Abstract: This thesis is based on the research of the most important plant and animal species of Banovici surroundings. The species display the condition of environmental quality of this area. The research was done in 2018 in three different locations: Park in Banovici, Tulovici and Zlaca. On these sites a specific observation was made, namely the observation and identification of the presence of certain types of organisms, bioindicators, lichen, moss, fish, and crayfish-all significant indicators for determining the state of environmental quality and purity. Diversity and presence of shrub – like lichen prove the purity of air, the moss is an indicator of soil quality and the presence of crayfish and trout proves the cleanliness of water. Therefore, the main aim of this thesis is to explore the presence and number of bioindicators mentioned above. The results have shown that this locality is enriched with the largest number of various types of observed bioindicators. Moreover, they present the significant proof for the existence of untouched nature in this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, for all nature lovers.
