Summary/Abstract: Muhamed Tajib Okić was born on December 1, 1902 in Gračanica, from father hfz. Mehmed Teufik ef. Okić and mother Hasiba Okić née Hadžić. Their origin was from Jajce, so it was recorded that for fourteen generations they had been imams in the Sinan-Bey's mosque in Jajce. It was also the case with Muhamed's grandfather Jusuf ef., then the great-grandfather Mustafa ef. His mother was from Gračanica, daughter of Mustafa Rušdi ef. Hadžić. Hfz. Mehmed Teufik ef. Okić, Tajib’s father was on duty in Gračanica as muderis (professor in high school) of Osman-Captain's Medresa (Islamic high school).He stayed in this town until 1910 when his father was elected for a member of the Ulema-medžlis in Sarajevo, and Tajib moved with his family to that town. Hfz. Mehmed Teufik was a member of the Ulema-medžlis, and he was a kurra-hafiz, and also held lectures from tefsir, translated and interpreted the Qur'an according to Nesefia, the famous commentator of the Qur'an, engaged in scientific work. While he was a student in Istanbul, at his own expense he printed two works of persons originating from Bosnia and Herzegovina. These were: the comment of Mustafa Ejubović-Šejh Jujo on famous work on logic - Isagudži (Istanbul, 1316/1898) and Glosa (Hašija) of Muhamed ibn Musa Allamak in the commentary of the work Kafija by Ibn Khadib (Istanbul, 1890) in two volumes (first volume had 632 pages, and the second volume had 605 pages).
