Summary/Abstract: This study on “Anti-Bosnian Ideology in Nationalist Teleologies: Imagining Political and Atheist Muslimhood” forms part of an ongoing investigation into the ideological bases of anti-Bosnian prejudice and the political programmes based upon them. One may justly claim that Bosnia, Bosnian identity and Bosniak identity all currently find themselves crucified, as it were, on a cross formed by three nationalist programmes, the Serbian, the Croat and the Bosniak. This crucifixion undermines the unity of the Bosnian people, with all its markers of identity and difference, insofar as nationalist reductionism denies its basis in a common cultural, political and economic life, both blocking and deforming it. The shared ground of all things Bosnian derives from our Slavic heritage and the Abrahamic polyphony. This study looks at two of the many forms of anti-Bosnian ideology, namely the constructions of political anti-Muslimism and of atheist forms of Muslim identity, as well as the forcible imposition and introduction of cultural racism, orientalism, and dogmatic secularism against the unity of a people ideologically ejected from primary reality into nationalist phantasy.
