Summary/Abstract: The importance of saving the immaterial cultural patrimony also consists in another present aspect. The Romanians have been preserving for more than two thousand years their national identity, the language and culture, due to the Romanian peasant and the Romanian village,(reasoned, sustained here by great culture personalities), a fact that made possible the formation of the Romanian state. But now, in spite of all these, after less than 100 years of its existence, together with joining the European Union, we are in great danger of loosing our national identity because of the process of standardization (or harmonization) happening as a result of globalization and uniformity. This new phenomenon causes a quick and irreversible loss of the traditional cultural values of the Romanian village, and among these, the first ones threatened with disappearance are the values of the immaterial cultural patrimony. In this context, starting from great personalities of the Romanian culture like L. Blaga and L. Rebreanu, the author attempts to bring arguments concerning the the necessity to standardize the immaterial cultural patrimony.
