Summary/Abstract: In accordance with the principle set forth in Article 107(1) of the TFEU, Member States may not grant aid or use state resources if such measures favor certain undertakings or the production of certain goods, lead to, or may lead to, the distortion of competition rules, affecting trade between Member States. Systems of monitoring the aid granted by Member States by the bodies of the EU derive their authorization from primary law. The body of preliminary rulings plays a significant role in the shaping of uniform standards for the implementation of the aforementioned provision.
