Western Analogues of Tantric Inspirations in Mircea Eliade’s Myth Theory

Summary/Abstract: Mircea Eliade owes much of his inspiration to the academic theories and practices of tantric meditation. He tried to express some of the elements taken from tantra yoga with the aid of analytical and phenomenological psychology. This essay attempts to show that Mediterranean and European culture also contains equivalents of the tantric view of reality to which Eliade refers.
