Summary/Abstract: This paper is the first general attempt to study the Placard Fund in Bulgarian National Film Archive (BNF) in aspects of Asian cinema. From the collection of posters we will try to present and analyze those artifacts that promote the presence of Chinese cinema on Bulgarian screens during the Socialist era (1944–1989). Almost all “Chinese” posters were painted by Bulgarian artists. Unfortunately the majority of the posters were not signed. The focus of research interest is provoked by the first 9 digitized poster: Reconstruction (original title, directors, plot, etc.) of projected films.; Endeavour for authorship identification; Visual communication, symbolism, aesthetics.; The vision of China in the Bulgarian poster art`s milieu; Advertising and film exchange between Bulgaria and China in the epoch.
