Summary/Abstract: Business model is a tool which is increasingly used in management process in the situation of instability of external environment, increasing competition and necessity of gaining a  competitive advantage. The lack of the research which deals with the problem of use of business model to characterize business behaviour of family business prompted the author to undertake the research on this subject. The article presents the result fragments of the conducted study. One of the purposes was to research (based on the opinion of family businessmen) understanding of the concept „business model” by businessmen who take part in the research and also relationship between business model and company success.
