Summary/Abstract: The economic changes taking place in the economies affect the reconfiguration of the structure and nature of the supply chains. The processes of the globalization, including the free movement of products conducive to the creation and operation of increasingly complex chains. The individual cells are located in different countries, and the products must overcome ever greater distances to get to the final recipient. Selecting the optimal and most efficient chain strategy leads to a situation where the production site can be far away from the place of consumption and the configuration of the whole of the chain begins to play an increasingly smaller role. The change in structure is also affected by trends in the protection of the environment and the increased interest in environmental problems when creating business structures. This refers to the relationship between the cells and the implementation of processes that will have the least negative impact on the environment. This involves among other things the implementation of the chain structure of the „green” principles.
