Summary/Abstract: This article describes the characteristics, history and evolution of the Passo Doble dance, which is included in the compulsory program of Latin American dances at sporting events and it is the only one whose origin is connected with Spain. The author reveals its musical, performing and technical characteristics and identifies its distinctive features from other dances included in the program of sports competitions.
