Summary/Abstract: The current study aims to present possible approaches and perspectives about the feasible strategies applied during the planning, preparation, development and execution of a military counterinsurgent campaign. Due to the fact that the power instruments applied to the operational environment in counter-insurgency remain the same with those applied in the operational environments that are specific to the continuous conflict peace-war-peace (diplomatic, economic, military and informational instruments of power – DIME), the manner in which these are used is the only one able to assure new perspectives about the development of adequate strategies during counter-insurgency. Knowing the fact that in counter-insurgency the population represents cause, means and aim, this study discusses why the use of more strategies specific to indirect actions is better than those specific to direct actions.
