Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to present problems of community hospitals, including their causes, and identification of ways to overcome crises and achieving development in a later stage, in order to reach legally expected standards. The whole consideration is based on an example of several years process of improvement of ZOZ SPZOZ in Brodnica, culminating with the Award for the Director in the Competition Success of the Year 2016, in the category “Manager of the Year in health security – Public sector institutions”.
