Summary/Abstract: The text refers to the process of language disappearance in some of the villages in Bukovina (Suceava county). The disappearance of the minority language is one of the vital issues that concern, among others, linguists and sociologists. Phenomena such as: reducing their own linguistic structures and adapting foreign ones; diminishing the diversity and complexity of the grammatical categories; loss of linguistic norms; excessive number of loans in other languages; the replacement of the liturgical and the majority languages; the transition to the majority language in the domestic sphere or the lack of transmission of the language to the next generations - are signs of “death” of the language and all can be observed in rural communities in the villages: Bulai, Vicşani, Cacica, Frumoasa or Mihoveni. Therefore, it seems very important to try to identify the causes of this phenomenon, especially as it refers to the Polish dialects, which in many cases retain the characteristics of the language at the end of the 19th century.
