Summary/Abstract: For the purposes of this study erected the following hypothesis: the level of financial literacy of the younger generation is low and requires financial education. This hypothesis has been verified by use of research in the world and in Poland. This article aims to show the importance of financial education of the generation Y. The choice of target group is not accidental. People with Gen Y are the group least bank-intensive, which involves a low level of financial knowledge. Those 15 years are regarded worldwide as a person, which in this age can now complete compulsory education and enter the labor market, and therefore the analysis of this segment in Poland compared to other countries, which provide the PISA study, it seems reasonable. Financial education as a remedy, affecting the increase of knowledge and financial awareness of the young generation is not possible without show the level of financial knowledge, which is presented in the first part of the article, the characteristics of the analyzed group. The article discussed were aspects of the National Strategy for Financial Education in the world in order to show their importance and impact on financial competence.
