Summary/Abstract: Cities play important role in the socio – economic live of each country. They perform a number of valid functions: economic and socio – cultural. Despite the role and importance which they play for the economy, they require assistance themselves. Years of neglect, deteriorating constantly state of technical infrastructure in cities requires local governments to take action revitalization. These projects are a response to reported by local communities need to improve living conditions or create new prospects for the population. At the moment, the main source of funding for revitalization projects are own funds of local government units, state funds and funds of EU origin. In addition to the sources of public financing source for revitalization projects may also be measures of private origin. However, their importance is still small. The aim of the article is to present the importance of alternative terms of public funds of domestic and foreign financial instrument which is the Public-Private Partnership in the implementation of revitalization projects on the example of the city of Lodz. For the research hypothesis assumed that the importance of Public-Private Partnership in the process of revitalization is not a significant source of financial support for local government in the implementation of projects involving housing degraded urban fabric. Research methods used in the article are based on studies of literature and an analysis of the figures for the number of revitalization projects financed with the participation of private partners.
