Summary/Abstract: In the literature, number of indicators that affect the management of personal finances are distinguished. One group of factors that significantly determine the financial decisions are behavioral factors, which include, among others – the personality. Personality is a collection of different features of an unit, including: temperament and approach to risk. The purpose of this article is to determine the impact of personality traits on the management of personal finances. For the purposes of the article, the following types of temperament have been assumed: choleric, phlegmatic, melancholic and sanguinic and three approaches to risk: aversion, neutrality and willingness. Following research hypothesis has also been set: There are differences in the management of personal finances due to the personality of the person responsible for making financial decisions in the household. The hypothesis has been verified on the basis of the results of research carried out on a sample of 1,181 people.
