Summary/Abstract: Published in 2008, the magazine XXI is the first example in France of long form or narrative journalism. It positions itself on the borders of journalism and literature, dealing with information through fiction writing techniques. Introduced since autumn 2014 on the website of the magazine, the section « Les Coulisses du récit » (“The Backstage of the story”) offers short stories materializing a space that underlies the reports they follow. Our study focuses on how the relation to space and time is constructed in order to support the narrator’s ethos in the discursive dispositive of the backstage, appropriate to each narrative, for purposes of creating effects of reality in the journalistic discourse. We argue that it is the journalist’s field experience that gives substance to the space-time dynamics thus producing the factualization and the presentification of the narratives.
