Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt at reformulating the feminist media studies from the perspective of Bruno Latour’s actor-network theory (ANT). The authors criticise contemporary gender and queer studies which repeat the mistakes of critical sociology. Ultimately the research on gender and sexuality in media lean towards conspiracy theory, radical textualism or naïve representationism. Rejecting both social constructivism and essentialism, the authors sketch most general ideas of the Latourian-feminist media theory. Their project is aimed at proving that the experience of gender and sexuality can be framed as an entanglement of the human and the inhuman where media become the rightful actors rather than mediators or contextual objects.
