Summary/Abstract: “The Eulenburg’s case” shocked European public in 1907–1909. “Homosexual camarilla” became the object of derision, contempt and condemnation in the Second Republic of Poland and beyond. The article presents the dynamics of the development of the scandal and the reaction towards it on the example of the Polish press analysed in the context of the French newspapers. The author claims that the strangeness/otherness of homosexuality in the reactions of the Polish press is intensified by the figures of ethnic, class and religious otherness which at that moment serves strengthening of the sense of community and national identity while the cognitive schemes produced then are being used by the media today.
