Summary/Abstract: Today Russians believe that geopolitics is a problem of external security of the country, a defense of national interests in the world. Is a state of the internal situation and the economic development of society. The concept of Russia’s geopolitical function depends on how it responds to the challenges of the modern world. The development of the scientific discussion about geopolitics was the Russian Federation was founded. Proponents of the doctrine point out that in the intellectual discussion of Eurasia is the diversity of Russian culture, which is different from the culture of the West. Russian geopolitical theorists say that the strategic actions should integrate political and economic elites in Europe and Asia countries. Russia wants to maintain influence in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, therefore, aims to create a Eurasian Union. It will be important institution in the contemporary balance of power between the European Union and the Asia-Pacific region. Initiatives undertaken by analyzing geopolitical dimension, mainly theoretical and practical, it should be considered that Russia aspires to play a major global role in the 21th century. Eurasian doctrine seeks to change the balance of power in the world, weakening the position of the United States and the marginalization of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
